Basic Differences Between A Filter, Purifier, Softener And A Conditioner

By Scott-Rodgers

Water purification is the process of removing undesirable and harmful contaminants from water. Undesirable contaminants include suspended particles, bacteria, fungi, viruses and a lot of dissolved particles. The main purpose of purifying water is to make it fit for drinking purpose. Purified water may also be used for a many purposes, like meeting the requirements of medical, pharmacology, chemical and industrial applications.

Is there any difference between a water filter and a water purifier? How does a water softener differs from a water conditioner? What factors should be considered while taking a water purification system? For answers of all such questions go through below mentioned passages.

By Using a water filter you can remove all the solid adulterant from the water. The filtering layer cease these adulterant to pass through it and gives us clean and clear water to drink and use.

Water filter take out the solid adulterant but what about tiny adulterant that can not be seen, for separating such impurity you can use a water purifier. A water purifier carry off all the microorganisms and chemicals from the water that are left out by a filter and makes it most suitable for drinking. Hence, a purifier is much better than a filter.

A water softener is simply a unit that removes the water hardness. A water is said to be hard when it contains minerals such as calcium, magnesium and ferrous iron ion. Generally it softens water by changing the place of hard ions. The most famous water softener is Zeolite, that can exchange ions with hard minerals.

A water conditioner works on the principle of crystallization to convert hard water into soft water. It changes crystallization process of Magnesium and Calcium by which their corrosiveness gets reduced. When it comes to comparison we usually use a softener to get soft water rather than conditioner because water produced by conditioner is considered unfit for drinking.

While buying a new purifier, think about some facts like, how much money you have to spend, whether you need help to install it or not. Once installed, how conveniently can it be used and what are the ongoing charges of the system.

One should try to take a purification system which can perform all the tasks and care must be taken so as to achieve the best results. - 30517
