First of all check the water pressure. Water pressure means the force with which water comes out of sink faucets and shower heads. Low water pressure can be a sign of sediment build up in the faucet or shower head. Problem in the water line could also be a cause of it. Accumulation of sediment on shower head may also cause a lower water pressure.

Drain blockage is a frequently occurring problem in any house. To check all the drains against blockage, pass water through them. If the speed of drainage is slower then your drain is not working fine and something is trapped inside it. Appearance of bubbles while draining of water also indicate a problem. Check out all the handles and valves against the leakage.

Flushing in toilet consumes a lot of water so check properly that your flush system is working fine or not and also check it against any leakage. Open the tank and check all the parts inside it.

Check if there are cracked tiles around the shower, sinks or near water pipes in the home. Loose or hollow tiles can be an indication that there is/was a leak around it. Also check whether the tub, sink or toilet caulking is in place or coming off.

How to check the water heater? First of all check the flame of your heater. To clean the heater, remove all the sedimentation by draining it. It should be blue in color. If it has touch of yellow light then you need to clean the jet. Open the chamber of heater and check it, if you find some chips of rust there then it means it has rusted.
